LIFE IN 44 AR

Education Hall: The unit has tremendous effort in uplifting the quality of life of the jawans both in their living conditions as well as their their leisure time. Recently the education room has been renovated so that the jawans who wants to pursue for higher studies can comfortably read in this room. There are a number of publications being subscribe for them. The room has been planned to be air conditioned soon.

Unit Run Canteen: The unit has relentlessly taken effort to meet the demands of the jawans in the essential commodities. The recently renovated Unit Run Canteen of 44 AR has been electrified with modern lighting system and is fully eir condition now. One can hear the soft melodies playing in the background of the canteen atmosphere while they can comfortably fill thier basket. The canteen is fully computerized now and bills are generated through prints.Apart from the CSD canteen the unit has taken effort to bring high quality products from commercial branded supplier which are not available in the CSD outlets. Goods coming from neighboring Myanmar are also included in the items as per popular demands.

Dussera: Dussera is our major religious festival in the Assam Rifles. The unit witness  a grand festival where troops from all the company and from all walks of life celebrate the festival. Goddess Durga and Goddess Kali were worshiped with strict religious norms and rituals and hawans  were performed during the festival. The festival was winded with the Meena Bazaar on the last day, the children and the families of the jawan enjoyed the jubilant celebration. Numerous stalls and eating outlets were opened for all the crowds present during the Meena Bazaar.

7th RAISING DAY CELEBRATION: The unit since its raising in Chakabama(Nagaland) in the year 2005 has now completed 6 years of dedicated and commendable service in the North East. The unit has performed exceedingly well both in operations as well as in the administrative sectors. The unit proudly celebrate the 7th Raising Day on 1st Feb 2011.

A special sainik samelan was held 1st Feb and the Comdt Col Gaurav Rishi SC/SM addressed the troops in the auditorum of 44 AR. The Commanded highlight on the performance of the unit in various field and wished them to continue the Good work. Meritorious and deserving troops were given awards for their performance in the courses and in their duties.

The unit has distributed vest specially designed for 44 AR troops to all the troops. A lapel pin and a cuff link were also specially ordered for the officers and the JCOs.

The unit witness a grand festival during the raising day celebration. Troops, families and children enjoyed the Meena Bazaar held in the unit ground. Various stalls were opened for all to enjoy the celebrations. There was a competition of Tug-of-war between the Officers and the JCOs and the Officers won the competition.




The final day wind up with a musical bonanza performed by a renown band from Assam. They entertained the crowd in the evening with their popular solo and duet numbers and they make the crowd go crazy. They also performed traditional and modern dance numbers.
